Tariff and contact information of Annapoorna Farm Karjat

For those looking for a budget stay in the real sense of the term, Annapoorna Farm at Karjat is the best option. It is just Rs.1,600/- for a 24hrs stay. Since we were aware about the long weekend holiday in March from 24th to 27th, we had decided to book in January itself since from our previous experiences of booking at farm stays, had anticipated lot of people booking too for that time period. We arrived on 25th morning at 11.30a.m. and left on 27th afternoon after lunch at 1p.m. Loved every minute of our stay, especially the food!

Accommodation at Annapoorna Farm

In all there are 3 cottages at Annapoorna Farm, named after flowers: Jai, Jui, Mogra, Gulab and Madhumalati. All are simply furnished with curtained windows and a large washroom area. We were delighted to see clothes-hanging rack in the porch area outside the door. This is one essential item since laundry service is not provided and you need to wash and hang out your clothes yourself. It is a pity that such a provision was not available at other farm stays where we went, namely Saguna Baug, Neral and Save Farm, Gholvad.

General tips for visitors to Annapoorna Farm Karjat

Based on our 3 nights/4 days stay at Annapoorna Farm, Karjat, Maharashtra, here are some useful tips.

Travelling to Annapoorna Farm Stay Karjat

Annapoorna Farm is not very far from Karjat station and it is a straight, clear road with not much traffic. On our recent visit, we boarded the local Karjat fast train from Dadar station at 8.20a.m. and reached the Karjat railway station at 10.20a.m. Check out the site go4mumbai.com – the best site for getting very accurate timings of local trains, both slow and fast, for Western, Central and Harbour lines.

Swinging time at Annapoorna Farm Karjat

It is advisable to take some board games and books to read in the evenings. Unlike at Saguna Baug, Neral and at Save Farm, Gholvad where there are farm tours and adventure activities, there is no such exciting stuff at Annapoorna Farm, Karjat. There are, though, non-adventurous fun things to do – swimming, boating, indoor games & swinging!

Dining and food at Annapoorna Farm Karjat

On our trips to other farm stays, while booking we would ask if special food arrangements could be made as per the special nutrition requirements of our group. We were told yes, but nobody really followed up with our requests when we reached there. Since large number of guests were being catered to, it was not possible to cook food with no chillies or tomatoes or cabbage or whatever just for one person – this is what we were told. We understand the practicality of it, but if somebody truly wants to make guests comfortable, the extra mile can be taken surely. To our total astonishment & delight, this extra mile was taken by Mrs. Smita Kalamkar at Annapoorna Farm, Karjat. This lady is truly somebody extraordinary. It is true that there was only one family on day 1 of our stay and another family for half a day on day 2 of our stay, with us being the sole guests after that. Yet, she could have easily said, as was done at the other farm stays, that the menu was a fixed one and food for one person could not be cooked separately. Instead she went out of her way….

Arriving at Annapoorna Farm Karjat

After a seemingly endless auto ride from Karjat railway station, we finally arrived at Annapoorna Farm.

We were greeted with a smile by Mrs. Smita Kalamkar (more of this lady’s extraordinary hospitality in the other blog post on the food arrangements) who asked us if we would like to have breakfast (upma). Since it was a little past 11.30a.m. already, we decided we would just have tea and have lunch directly which she said would be available after 12.30noon.

Annapoorna Farm Stay Karjat review March 2016

The initial annoying arrival notwithstanding, we had a truly marvellous time at Annapoorna Farm, Karjat. Totally digital free too - no WiFi, no TV, not even a newspaper! Just clean air, lots of blooming flowers and a marvellous time with the family bonding over TT, swimming & swinging. Absolutely the best aspect was undoubtedly the food.
