Saguna Baug accommodation rates and general facilities

As mentioned earlier, paying a casual visit and enjoying a day's picnic at Saguna Baug, Neral is not a bad idea but far better is to stay there for a couple of days. Your stay will definitely be a comfortable one. What's more, it is 100% value for money, with no dent on your wallet.

There are various types of accommodation available at Saguna Baug
  • 3 independent cottages
Independent cottage with swing on the left
  • Pond House rooms (2 rooms which can be booked independently or together)

  • Dormitory (3 rooms with lot of individual bed areas) – suitable for really large groups, with up to maximum 10 persons being able to stay.
  • Tents [did not see these during our visit]
  • Bungalow [did not see this during our visit]
When you enter the gates of Saguna Baug, a sign board directs you to stop, ask and then proceed. Meaning, you stop outside the office building, let the staff know whether you are visiting or booked rooms to stay & they will direct you where to go.

Guests staying in the Pond House room(s) get their own room attendant to bring the meals, so you don’t need to go all the way to the common dining area. This room service is not available to guests staying in a cottage.

The common dining area is very basic, with long tables and benches. It can be noisy and crowded when large groups arrive for day picnics.

There is a wash basin outside the dining area which is interesting to see – the pipes are hidden by a large coconut tree frond. There are also loos, a separate one for ladies (did not visit them so no idea about cleanliness).

In front of the dining area is a large, covered area, called Kowlaru, for groups to sit and relax.
Throughout the entire property there are hammocks, starting right from the trees near the office to the dining area. One of our group tried out various hammocks and declared 1st prize for the pink hammock beneath the tree near the pond where boating & fishing takes place due to it being of the correct height for proper swinging!!

Outside each cottage there is a large wooden swing and the Pond House has 2 swings, one outside each room.

A small swing hangs beneath the tree at the entrance path to the dining area. Sit on it and look up – you will see a wind chime!
