During our stay at Save Farm, Gholvad we decided to visit Bordi beach which was just 10 minutes away by auto. We had called up the auto drive a day ahead and, on the cautious advice given by the office staff, decided to venture out & return to the farm by 6p.m. We realized why that cautious advice was given to us when we reached Bordi beach.
Strewn around were lots of empty cigarette packs and bottles - an indication of rowdy groups perhaps?
We were prepared for the not-so-clean beach, having already read about it on the Net. Yet, we had decided to go, thinking we would at least enjoy the cool breeze & perhaps walk in the water. Well, we did get the cool breeze but no question of walking in the water. The sea was way, way out....and I mean really so far out, we could not really make out where it started! The sand was not really the type you can walk on either. We merely stood around for a while chatting.
We had for company a vendor selling soft drinks and two somnolent camels who looked as disinterested as us!! The driver of the camel cart was nowhere to be seen.
We had hoped to at least drink some refreshing coconut water, but no such luck. There wasn't even one in sight. Quite strange, as this is one thing that you can expect on a beach anywhere in India. So in other words the only thing we did enjoy were the majestic trees chattering with each other.
In short, if you are looking for some interesting things to do, stick to the enjoyable activities at Save Farm itself rather than wasting time visiting Bordi beach!
Something to think over: On route, we had to halt at the railway crossing and were appalled to see how locals had not a care for rules. They simply ducked under the guard-rail and crossed the tracks. Even a large cow managed to squeeze below and cross, as though taking a cue from the humans. Honestly, it was quite scary to see, with no care for the fact that a train may come thundering along. Even groups with kids among them were blatantly crossing the tracks with nary a care for life or limbs. Really, why on earth can't people respect rules? It is no wonder that accidents happen at railway crossings.
