Photo guide road route to go to Amreena Farmhouse Avalas Village Karjat

Amreena Farmhouse is in the village of Avalas and within a reasonable driving distance from the centre of Karjat. Once you book your stay, the owners will provide you with the specific Google Map link (they make it clear that you should use that link only), which has been found to be useful as mentioned in reviews by a couple of guests who headed there via road. However, for people like us who are train travellers and hired an auto to take us there from Karjat railway station, it was, to put it frankly, completely useless. This is primarily for two reasons – one, the connectivity is poor, and second, prominent markers on the map should have been ones that are known to locals. As it is, the village itself is not known to most of the auto drivers and the person who did know of it by name eventually found it difficult to locate the farmhouse.

Perhaps the directions I am explaining here through photos (a few taken while going, and the others on the return drive) will be a useful guide for the road route from Karjat.

First, some useful info-

If coming by train from Mumbai, I would suggest you board the train that goes to Karjat railway

station. As advised by the owners of Amreena Farmhouse, you should take the Khopoli train to Palasdhari and walk from the railway station there. However, we did not find the early morning time of the train convenient for us, and on checking through Google, it did not quite seem to be very close to the station. In fact, when we stayed there, we walked down the road towards the Palasdhari station, but never really found the station itself, though it seems there is a shortcut across the railway tracks which we chose not to take. You can request the manager to arrange for an auto to take you to the farmhouse and clarify with him where you need to stand for him to pick you up as there are two exits.

Another point to note is that when we arrived, the bridge leading to the main entrance to the railway station was closed and hence we had to exit from the other end which leads onto the road that has well-known landmarks-

This is where, incidentally, we had an auto driver pick us up when we were going to Annapoorna Farms.

By the way, a signboard we spotted in Karjat stated that Ola/Uber service is not available for pickup, so don’t depend on that service.

The route to Amreena Farmhouse by road from Karjat

When you cross the Shree Ram bridge (called Shree Ram Pul in the local Marathi language), be prepared for a stretch of road that is rough and stony, passing the Gora Kumbhar Ghat. Just keep going as basically here on it is a straight road and you will pass some residential blocks and open fields. You will also see the beautiful Ulhas river, and pass what is called ‘Ulhas Nadi Ghat’. Here are two photos that I took on the same route while returning-

On the way further, on your right, you will see a distillery unit's large complex and after that a cement one on your right (not quite sure which came first though). In case you feel that you are heading nowhere, simply stop and ask locals if you are heading in the correct direction to Mohili bridge. This is a wide bridge you will come to after two major landmarks- first, the Tamnath village on your left (it is well known for its Shiv Shankar Mandir), and, next, the Sai Ganesh Mandir on your right. So you have to turn right at the signboard of ‘Timber Trails’ which takes you on to the Mohile bridge. Go over the bridge and, again, just keep going straight.

Eventually, after quite some time, towards your right, you will see the large blue gates of Ketaki Farms. Keep going till you see on your left a small open space off the road, with the sign board of ‘Samrat Ashok Mandal Adarsh Mitra Mandal Ashwin Sports Club’. Have a look at these see images-

It is at this spot that we felt we were completely lost and could neither use the Google map provided nor connect with the manager. Luckily for us, an auto coming from the opposite direction gave directions to the driver of our auto and explained where to go.

So at this point, if again you feel that you are lost, ask somebody the direction to ZP, Mohili village. This is the Zilla Parishad school in Mohili village and you cannot miss the board with the village name and, next to it, the board of ‘Camp Comfygram’ – at this point, you have to go towards the right of the Board. This is the image-

Keep going straight and you will eventually sight the spire of the Shree Dutta Mandir-

The road curves right, past the gates of the temple-

Within a few minutes, you will come to this prominent sign board-

Then, after a few homes, you will spot a small white and yellow house, and then on your left the house in the image below that has a green shade around the plants inside-

Immediately after that on your right is an orange and white house with a large Tata Sky dish, and next to that another house that has on its gate the sign ‘Angel Beauty Parlour’ (in Marathi), as seen below-

Exactly opposite it is Amreena Farmhouse with the name outside in big bold letters. You’ve arrived! If the caretaker is not outside, ring the bell on the left just above the name.

Enjoy your stay, especially the wonderful food and the activities as well.
