Accommodation at Gulmohar Homestay Nashik is really very comfortable. All the knick-knacks and furniture are placed in a way that does not scream of clutter or over the top kitsch. It is, to put it simply, tasteful décor and charming.
An amazing thing is that, despite the hot month of April, within the house, we never felt the heat at all. No, there is no air-conditioning. The outer room beyond the bedroom has some type of matting on the underside of the roof (see the image below) which is what retains the coolness and the roof of the bedroom is very high as well. There is an air-cooler in the room, though, if you do require it.
A dressing table with a large mirror, a cupboard with extra bed covers, cane chairs and towels on a side table, a smaller table with a pretty cloth cover completes the picture. Speaking of towels, it was good to have not just a large bath towel for each of us, but a hand towel as well for each of us – making a point of this as in most places you get just one common hand towel for all the occupants of a room!
Our twin beds were separated by a table (image on the left below). And what a useful table that was! We simply kept our watches, spectacles and munchies on it. That way, we could loll around as much as we wanted without getting off the bed – which is our idea of a happy, lazy vacation, just like the figurine mentioned in the overview of Gulmohar Homestay, Nashik.
Further, there are really excellent provisions – a foldable clothes' rack to hang your towels and clothes (image on the right above); and a kettle to heat hot water and have your own tea/coffee whenever you wish, with sugar cubes (not sugar), tea/coffee sachets and milk powder. Drinking water was stored in a colourful container with a little tap – lovely! The requisite mugs in a tray and spoons were also placed on the shelf.
There was a separate light above our beds other than the main room’s light. However, one inconvenience was not to have the fan switch near the bed to regulate the speed. That was next to the door so we couldn’t be that lazy!!!
Hot water from a geyser is available in the spacious, bright washroom. What confused us was the 'h' and 'c' on the tap levers and we had to request the hosts to explain how to get hot water for a bath. A bottle of shampoo is provided in the bathing area. There is no bathing soap; it is a liquid soap, so if you prefer a bar of soap, you can request the hosts for it. You need to bring along your own toothbrush and toothpaste.

Along with extra beds, there is a spacious seating arrangement on the other side of the room's curtained window, with books and board games at hand.
