Accommodation at Annapoorna Farm

In all there are 3 cottages at Annapoorna Farm, named after flowers: Jai, Jui, Mogra, Gulab and Madhumalati. All are simply furnished with curtained windows and a large washroom area. We were delighted to see clothes-hanging rack in the porch area outside the door. This is one essential item since laundry service is not provided and you need to wash and hang out your clothes yourself. It is a pity that such a provision was not available at other farm stays where we went, namely Saguna Baug, Neral and Save Farm, Gholvad.

Room facilities
The Jai, Jui, Mogra and Gulab rooms are air-conditioned with 4 beds each, while the Madhumalati cottage is having one large room with 12 beds. There is no air-conditioner here, but a large & tall fan.

The beds
In our room there were 4 beds. These are not double sized beds, but individual beds in themselves and can be slightly pulled apart if required. An extra bed (not just a flat bedding but a proper bed) was provided for the 5th member of our group to sleep on the floor. 3 people can sleep in the 2 joined beds as they are fairly large, but our principle is to be always comfortable and be able to sprawl with space enough to keep a book ready for reading while lounging, rather than sleeping in a cramped manner with each other’s hands and legs getting knocked around!

Right next to the beds is a normal table, the one near the door having a large drinking water container.

Other aspects
The curtained windows had mosquito netting. Due to it being the hot season, we kept the curtains drawn at all times to keep out the heat. We are not exactly a/c loving people but were forced to use it as it became unbearably hot by around 3.30p.m. in the afternoon and even in the middle of the night. Also, when we went for our meals, we used to keep the a/c on to let the room cool till we got back.

It was good, too, to see hooks on the wall and a large mirror near the door.

The washroom area has the wash basin, a normal cupboard to keep your toothpaste, toothbrush, etc. There is a rod for a hand towel and, thankfully, hooks in the bathing area. The loo is Western type. It is suggested to the owners to install a hand railing near the toilet area for the convenience of senior citizens and one near the bathing area too to grab at or hold on to if required. It would also be good to have a high kind of stool for bathing if there are old people in the group.

Hot water is available for bathing from 8a.m to 10a.m. as informed by the staff. However, during the initial half an hour, the water tends to be just barely lukewarm so if you, like me, like really hot water, wait till about 9a.m. and enjoy a really good bath. Even otherwise, we found fairly hot water coming from the taps even in the evening between 4p.m. and 5p.m. so could once again wash off after an evening swim.

Please note that only a normal soap was there on the wash basin. You need to bring your own requisite toiletries - bathing soap, toothpaste, etc and also your own towels.

Overall the rooms are comfortable and the beds soft for a good night's sleep.
